Garden Design and Build
We offer a full garden design and landscaping service for private homes and commercial/public premises. A strong design can dramatically enhance your outdoor living space and maximise the use and enjoyment of your garden. We maintain the highest standards of service throughout the process; from the creation of the initial concept through to the final realization of your dream garden.
How we work
Step 1: Initial Consultation
We offer an initial consultation visit to discuss your requirements in detail. The consultation meeting typically takes place at your property and lasts 30 minutes to an hour. During this meeting you will have the opportunity to meet a member of the design team, look through our portfolio and indicate the style(s) of landscaping that you are interested in. We will assess the site, flesh out your brief and establish next steps.
Simple projects (e.g. replacing an existing patio) may not require detailed drawings in order to produce a quotation. However if your project involves a more extensive reordering of your space we may recommend that you commission one of our designers to create an outline plan for your garden. This enables us to dedicate time to ensure that your new garden is designed to meet your needs. In this instance you may be asked to complete a design questionnaire detailing what you would like to gain from your garden and how it will be used.
Fees: Our initial consultation is free and without obligation.
Step 2: Design
Whether you are looking for a modern, low maintenance garden or something more traditional, our bespoke design service provides focused solutions that are as individual as the clients who commission them. Our designers are experienced in creating fabulous designs for gardens of all sizes. We understand that a garden not only has to look good, but it has to be practical too. Our designs take into account each client’s likes and dislikes, the usage they demand from their garden and the amount of time they can spare to maintain it.
Fees: Our design fee varies according to the nature of each job. We will agree a suitable fee during the initial consultation process; you can expect to pay around £1,000 for an average size back garden. The fee includes a detailed site survey, a 2D, scaled, outline plan for you to keep and one set of changes if required.
Site Survey: The design process begins with a detailed site survey and analysis of your existing garden resulting in a scaled plan that can then be used as a base for an outline plan. More complex projects may require a 3rd party Topographical Survey.
Outline Plan: Our Outline plans are detailed, 2D drawings, drawn to scale using information gathered from a site survey. They set out all the elements of the design and specify the materials to be used and the type of planting. Supplemental sketches may be included to aid visualisation.
Planting Plans: Planting plans are scaled drawings that illustrate the variety, quantity and position of all the plants in the garden. There may be an additional charge for this service.
Step 3: Quotations
The build costs are agreed before work begins on site. We will honour our quotation provided your instructions do not change. Our quotations are provided free of charge.
Step 4: Build
With a wealth of experience in both landscape construction and horticulture, our talented in-house team can carry out all aspects of hard and soft landscaping. Whether you want a raised deck or a planting scheme for a new bed, we have the right people for the job.
We use quality materials and adhere to strict specifications and construction techniques. We are fully insured and take great pride in our work.
The management, designer and construction team will work hard to ensure your dream garden is built to the highest standards, with minimal disruption to your living space.
Our commitment to the environment means that we will make every effort to recycle suitable material and to source materials from sustainable sources where possible.
Step 5: Planting
The planting plan for your garden will ensure that the garden is packed with year round colour and interest.
Plants are carefully selected to create the right look and feel to complement the hard landscaping. Our expert designers will ensure you have the right plant for the right place and tailor the scheme to your level of expertise and the amount of time available to maintain the garden.
We are based at Longacres Garden Centre but we are not restricted to purchasing plants from the shop floor. We have developed strong relationships with local growers to ensure that we can source quality plants at great prices in and out of season.
Consultation Service

Our Clients
We offer our services to private, commercial and public sector clients within a 30 minute drive from Longacres Garden Centre in Bagshot. The majority of our clients are in the domestic sector.
We provide a bespoke service that can be adapted to suit the requirements of large-scale, high end projects with big budgets as well as small scale jobs with small budgets.
